In the March issue of The Wisconsin Taxpayer, "Do County Sales Taxes Lower Property Taxes?," counties were categorized by the amount of likely property tax relief experienced from the implementation of the county sales tax.  The method used to make the evaluation is discussed in detail in that issue.  You can order a copy of the report here.  To help understand the patterns WISTAX researchers were looking for, a brief discussion and sample chart for the categories can be found here:  Most relief;  Some relief;  Unlikely relief.  Charts for all 49 counties evaluated can be viewed by clicking on the county name below.  Sixteen counties do not have a county sales tax and seven did not have the sales tax long enough to make an evaluation.
